Location
Malia is located 34km east of Heraklion city and 31km east of Agios Nikolaos.
The resort is mostly famous for its wild nightlife and the third largest Minoan palace on Crete.
The wide beach of Malia is the eastern part of a 6km long coastline which starts from Stalis.

Notes
The national road seems to divide Malia in two, the old part at the foothill of mount Selena and the newer part towards the coast.
Opposite to the main beach, there is a small islet with the picturesque chapel of the Transfiguration.
How to get to Malia
Malia beach is easily accessible from Heraklion with frequent public buses.
If you choose to drive from Heraklion, take the New National Road (E75), towards Agios Nikolaos to the east.
Malia is 30-40 minutes’ drive away.
