OverviewGetting to Falassarna

Falassarna is a small resort on the western tip of the isand of Crete.
It is amongst the most famous Cretan destinations, due to numerous awards for being one of the top ten beaches in Europe.
Its 3 kilometres long beach with fine pinkish sand and crystal clear cold waters is a pole of attraction every summer.
Falassarna is part of the Natura 2000 network, due to its variety of flora and fauna.

An ideal destination for those who seek to relax all day beachside in a motionless state or for romantic couples as the place undoubtedly offers one of the best sunsets in West Crete.
Although most visitors come daily to Falassarna for a swim, the place has to offer several small hotels and apartments as well as villas.
There are also many restaurants and few beach bars which offer ample shade during the hot hours of the day and occasionally organise beach parties.
The nightlife options that Falassarna offers though, are very limited.
While in Falassarna it is advisable to visit the site of  Ancient Falassarna, a city which flourished particularly during the 4th and 3rd centuries BC.
The great event in Falassarna though is the beach party organised by the youths of the neighbouring village of Platanos the first or second Saturday of August each year when the beach becomes an overcrowded dance floor!
