Ancient Polyrinia

Polyrinia is a traditional mountain village, 7km inland from Kissamos in the prefecture of Chania of Crete.

Ancient Polyrinia or Polyrrinia was a Greek / Hellenistic town which prospered during the period of the Roman Reign.
It was an important Archaic Period settlement co-temporaneous with Lato and Prinias.

Polyrinia continued to flourish in the Roman period, when the center shifted to its erstwhile port, Kissamos, and in this urbanistic configuration lasted into Byzantine times.
