Almyrida (or Almirida), is located at the entrance of Souda Bay, about 23km east of Chania and just 2km away from Kalives beach.

Notes

Both beaches in Almyrida are exposed to northern winds which occasionally produce very large waves, becoming a paradise for windsurfers.
You can also hire a sailing boat for daily excursions to the islet of Karga which is opposite the beach.

How to get to Almyrida

Almyrida beach is accessible with daily public buses from Chania.
If you choose to drive from Chania, take the road leading to the port of Souda.
Little before reaching the port, turn right towards the intersection with the new National road (E75) towards Rethymno, to the east.
From there on, the route is well signposted.
