Location
The beaches of Salamias are located about 67km south of Heraklion city.
Although access is very difficult, they are well worth a visit.

The beaches are completely unorganized.
Notes
The secluded beaches are formed at the exit of a small canyon of the Asterousia mountains.
There are several coves ideal for nudism, snorkelling, fishing and hiking.
The most beautiful one is the westernmost beach, called Vourlidia.
The surrounding area is an important habitat for many rare species of birds and plants.
How to reach Salamias
Salamia beaches are accessible only by boat or on foot from Agios Ioannis which would take about 2 hours.
