Platanias is a 3 km long sandy beach, adjacent to the beach of Agia Marina, about 10km west of Chania town, on the old national road connecting Chania and Kissamos.

Notes
The seabed is mainly sandy with a few exceptions where you may find large slippery slabs therefore caution is advised especially when north winds blow during late July and early August.
From the beach you can see the Thodorou islet, a preservation area of the Cretan wild goat widely known as Kri-kri.

Platanias beach is easily accessible from Chania by public buses or rented cars and motorbikes.
