Agia Pelagia beaches (i.e. Santa Pelagia) are located 25km west of Heraklion city.
Agia Pelagia has been transformed into a very popular tourist resort in recent years, preferred by both tourists and locals due to the numerous small coves which are protected by the north winds.

If you walk along the coast of Agia Pelagia to the north and continue along the Cape of Souda, you will find an exquisite beach of north Crete, called Fylakes.
Fylakes (i.e. Prisons) have sand and calm, turquoise waters.
The beaches are so narrow and small, they easily get crowded.
*The sea deepens relatively fast.
How to get to Agia Pelagia
Agia Pelagia is accessible from Heraklion with daily public buses.
If you choose to drive from Heraklion, take the new National road (E75) towards Rethymno, to the west.
