The paradise village of Azogyres is definitely worth visiting while staying in Paleochora.
In order to get to Azogyres which is 8km from Paleochora, you can either take the early bus from Paleochora to the Omalos Plateau or a taxi which should not cost too much considering the distance.
When in Azogyres, look for Eftihis, owner of the Alfa Hotel and cafenion, the perfect host in Crete!
- The path starts across the Alfa Hotel.
- It is impossible to get lost if you closely follow the blue markings on stones.
- Although it is of moderate difficulty, it is inappropriate for those who fear heights.
- Additional water is necessary.
- Start as early as possible.
- The walk takes about 2 to 4 hours, at a slow pace, always depending on the stops you will make to enjoy the awesome, breathtaking views!
