Paleochora is situated 75 km south of the city of Chania.
If you have arrived the island, you can reach Paleochora by bus, taxi or your own hire car.
Taxi rates as well as hire car rates may vary so it is advisable to check out many options.

From Chania to Paleochora by bus:

There are four daily buses from Chania to Paleochora
The bus trip takes approximately two hours.

From Rethymnon to Paleochora by bus via Chania:

There are several daily buses from Rethymnon to Chania.
The bus trip takes approximately one hour.
You will then have to change buses in Chania bus station to Paleochora.

From Heraklion to Paleochora by bus via Chania:

There are several daily buses from Heraklion to Chania.
The itinerary includes a stop at Rethymnon and takes approximately 3 hours.
At Chania you change buses to Paleochora, so the whole trip will take 5 hours if you’re lucky and catch a bus leaving for Paleochora at once.
The same trip by hire car takes about 3.5 hours without making any stops.

From Chania Airport or Souda Port to Paleochora by hire car:

After leaving the airport, follow the main road to the left and turn right towards Chania after 2 km.
Before the village of Pithari, you wil find a roundabout where you should turn left  towards Souda and follow the downhill road overlooking the Souda Port.
After about 5,5 km you will find a traffic light where you turn right towards Chania.
100metres further along you will arrive at a large intersection where you turn left. One km further you will find the junction that joins the motorway and then turn right with direction towards Kissamos-Kastelli.
After 25 km you will find the exit to Paleohora/Tavronitis where you turn right for Paleohora.
You will now be traveling on the main road via Voukolies, Dromonero, Kakopetros, Floria, Kandanos, Plemeniana, Vlithia and Kalamos and arrive in Paleohora after 62 km.

The drive from Chania takes between 1 and 1 ½ hours depending onthe stops you might make along the road.

Alternatively you can take a bus from Chania Airport to the Ktel bus station in Chania and then take a bus to Paleochora.

From Sougia or Sfakia to Paleochora by boat:

You can also get to Paleochora by boat from the east coast villages of Sougia and Sfakia.
