Notes
As all its surrounding beaches, Gerani is a shelter for the Caretta caretta sea turtle which nests in the sand from May until September.
Gerani beach is mainly sandy with small pebbles at parts.
Like all the beaches on the north west coast it is affected by the winds widely known as “meltemia” which blow during the months of July and August.
During these days attention is required, due to dangerous sea currents and large waves.
How to get to Gerani
Gerani beach is easily accessible from Chania by frequent public buses or rented cars and motorbikes.
Gerani is near a junction with the new National road Chanion- Kissamou.
