Kamilari is located in the South of Crete, close to the town of Mires, 3km west of the archaeological sight of Phaistos and 3 km away from Kommos beach.

It is built on the top of three hills and has more than 300 inhabitants. It is a quiet, picturesque village in southern Crete where the sun actually shines nine months a year.
Kamilari has all the features of a typical Cretan village: a small main square, a church and kafeneia full of character, frequented by both locals and visitors.

It is surrounded by the renowned archaeological Minoan sites of Festos, Agia Triada and Gortis and is only a short distance from the local beaches which are easily accessible from Kamilari in a rental car or even on foot.
For more than 25 years now Kamilari has hosted tourists from all over Europe and, nevertheless, managed to stay a beautiful and scenic Cretan village. The strongly traditional atmosphere of the village has captured many of its guests and as a result many of the stone-built houses you see have been restored by foreign owners, who use them as summer homes.

In Kamilari there are small souvenir shops as well as mini markets for necessary daily products. Cafés and restaurants offer a variety of traditional Cretan cuisine.
