Mavros Kolimbos beach or Agios Panteleimonas as it is also called due to the nearby church, is located 53km south east of Agios Nikolaos and 20km east of Ierapetra.

Mavros Kolimbos is well protected from the winds blowing in the area.
The seabed is mainly rocky, making it ideal for snorkeling.
The beach is completely unorganised, but there are several tamarisk trees offering natural shade.
If you would like to experience a local feast, there is a panighyri in Mavros Kolimbos on the 27th of July in honor of Agios Panteleimonas, and on the 14th of September in honor of Timios Stavros (Holy Cross).
How to get to Mavros Kolimbos
Mavros Kolimbos is accessible by private or rented cars and motorbikes.
If you choose to drive from Agios Nikolaos or Sitia, follow the national road to Ierapetra, towards the south.
Little before you reach Ierapetra, turn left towards Ferma and Makrigialos.
After you reach Achlia, continue driving for about 3km and you will see a sign pointing right to Agios Panteleimonas – Mavros Kolimbos beach.
*There are also buses running from Ierapetra and Sitia to Makrygialos which could make a stop if you politely ask the driver!
