Dyskos beach

Dyskos or Dytikos beach (i.e. Western) is located 76km south west of Heraklion, 30km southern to Mires and just 1200m west of Lentas from which Dyskos is separated by the imposing Lion cape.

The long and remote beach of Dyskos exudes calmness even during the peak touristic season.

Due to its perfect deep waters and sunset, its size, and above all its relaxing setting, Dyskos has been a heaven for the hippies and naturists for years!

Notes

Just west of the Lion cape, starts the long beach of Dyskos with fine coarse sand, extending westwards to Tsigounas village and its small beach of Limanaki (i.e. harbour).

West of the lion-shaped rock the beach is nudist friendly and although it deepens abruptly it’s a sheer pleasure to swim into!

Moving towards the central part of the beach, in front of the new small settlement, it is slightly organised with a few taverns and rooms.
On this part you may encounter more families, whereas moving western you will find again many small and secluded beaches between rocks, popular to nudists.

Dyskos is also an attractive beach to camp, underneath a tamarisk tree or the enormous cape Lion that dominates Lentas and keeps the sun away in the early mornings.

How to get to Dyskos

Dyskos is accessible with public buses from Heraklion to Lentas and then on foot by following the short path that crosses the Lion cape from Lentas.

It is also accessible by private cars and motorbikes from Heraklion, on a winding asphalt road towards Tymbaki and Agia Galini.
When you reach the village of Agii Deka turn left towards Vagonia and Vasiliki.
Follow the uphil, winding road towards the village of Krotos and after a while the stunning views of the Lion cape and the Libyan sea will reward you!
Before entering Lentas, you will see signs pointing “Dytikos'” through a paved road leading to the right and after 1km you will see the long beach of Dyskos.
