Plakias is a 1,4km long beach, 35km south of Rethymno town.
The main beach lies between Paligremnos and Plakias village, one of the most cosmopolitan resorts in the prefecture of Rethymnon.

The eastern part of the beach is called Paligremnos and features impressive high vertical cliffs and caves.
Paligremnos is well organised, with restaurants and hotels a stone’s throw away.
*The sea temperature in Plakias is cool and refreshing, due to river Kotsifos which empties near the village.
**As it is a windy beach, it attracts many windsurfers.
How to get to Plakias
Plakias is easily accessible with frequent public buses from Rethymno.
If you choose to drive from Rethymno town, take the provincial road Melampon- Agias Galinis to the south.
Drive past the villages of Armenoi, Koxare and Lefkogia and follow the signs leading to Plakias.
The route is well signposted.
