Location
Treis Ekklisies beaches (i.e. Three Churches) are located 62km south of Heraklion.
The homonymous village is named after the three Byzantine churches dedicated to Panagia, Afentis Christos and the Ascension respectively.

Facilities
The beaches are not organized.
*There are few tavernas, coffee shops and rooms near the main beach.
Notes
The village of Treis Ekklisies is formed at the exit of the Ambas gorge and is ideal for quiet holidays.
West of the dirt road you will find the secluded beach of Kolovrextis which is preferred by campers.
East of the main beach of Treis Ekklisies there is another sandy cove, widely known as Pachia Ammos.
The beach is shaped at the exit of the Agia Paraskevi gorge and is a nesting place for the caretta caretta loggerhead turtle.
The most eastern cove is called Ornios.
It has blue waters and sea caves which create an enchanting landscape.
How to reach Treis Ekklisies
Treis Ekklisies beaches are accessible only by private and rented cars and motorbiles.
If you drive from Heraklion take the provincial road Knossou-Charakas to the south.
Drive past the villages of Archanes, Vathypetro and Charakas.
When you reach the village of Paranymfoi, follow the 8km long dirt road leading to Treis Ekklisies.
Shortly after Paranymfoi, you will have the opportunity to admire the 145m high waterfall of the Ambas Gorge as well as the stunning views over the Libyan sea.
