Kladissos beach

Location

Kladissos beach is located 26km west of the city of Heraklion and 60km from Rethymno, just west of Agia Pelagia village.
The beach is more peaceful and isolated than the main beach of Agia Pelagia, but still very close to the amenities the aforementioned village offers.

Notes

Since access is available only through a hotel, Kladissos beach may look like a private one, but you must always remember that there is no such thing as a private beach in Greece.
The beach is more protected from the north winds which blow in the area.

Whilst in Kladissos you must visit the post-Minoan tombs and the public building called Prytaneion of the 4th century BC which were excavated in 1970.
Some ceramic findings of the area are exhibited in the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford.

How to reach Kladissos beach

If you choose to drive from Heraklion, take the new National road (E75) towards Rethymno, to the west.
After about 28km, follow the signs to Capsis Hotel.
**Kladissos beach is accessible from Heraklion with three daily public buses to Agia Pelagia during the summer months.
