The beach is more protected from the north winds which blow in the area.
Whilst in Kladissos you must visit the post-Minoan tombs and the public building called Prytaneion of the 4th century BC which were excavated in 1970.
Some ceramic findings of the area are exhibited in the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford.
How to reach Kladissos beach
If you choose to drive from Heraklion, take the new National road (E75) towards Rethymno, to the west.
After about 28km, follow the signs to Capsis Hotel.
**Kladissos beach is accessible from Heraklion with three daily public buses to Agia Pelagia during the summer months.
